Collection, 1833-1906, of miscellaneous materials from the State Land Office. Included is a published advertisement of Mich. Swamp Lands for sale at 25 cents/acre and School Lands at $4/acre beginning on the second Thursday of Nov. 1879. The lands for sale were located in Fremont Township (Isabella County) and Richland Township (Kalamazoo County). Also included are Miscellaneous Correspondence and other land advertisements, 1840-1878 (scattered), and Miscellaneous Checks and Receipts, 1848-1878 (scattered). There are vellum Deeds(3), 1834-1848 (scattered). Three deeds, 1833-1848, and a receipt were issued to Samuel Dexter founder of Ionia (Mich.). There are Land Patents (39), 1833-1906 (scattered), most of which are for land sold or registered in Gratiot County (Mich.). There are also Reports from township supervisors in Cass, Eaton, Kent, Lenawee, Jackson, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties to D.V. Bell, Commissioner of the Land Office in Marshall (Mich.), concerning improvements on state school lands, 1844-1849 (scattered). Most of the collection is physically quite fragile. Some of the materials are ripped.

The State Land Office Board was created by Public Act 155 of 1937. It was to consist of two members appointed by the governor, and the auditor general, who was member and chairman.
